A roundup of events news for the coming month
Community Pages – Local Events and News
With the evenings drawing in it’s a great time to come to the Community Centre for some extra activities to brighten up the shorter days and liven up the dark evenings. You may want to join some of the classes that we run or come to some of the events, hopefully there’s something for everyone. And of course don’t forget our regular Community Club lunches and film night.
Our showing for October (Friday 27th) will be Time of Their Lives (12A). A former Hollywood star (Joan Collins) leaves her London retirement home with a friend to go to her ex-husband's funeral in France. On the way, the two women get romantically involved with a Frenchman. Thank you to all of you who have filled in our sheet asking for suggestions for future films, this is very helpful as we do want to show films you want to see! Future showings requested which we will definitely be showing include “Going in Style”, “Churchill” and “Dunkirk”. Please do continue to let us have your suggestions. It would be really helpful if you could buy your tickets prior to the showing to give us some idea of numbers.
Murder in Play
Do you enjoy a murder mystery with more than a touch of comedy? Then come along and see the latest production from Lyndhurst Drama & Musical Society at the Vernon Theatre on 26th, 27th and 28th October. Tickets available from the Community Centre Office.
Community Club Lunch
We look forward to seeing you at the Community Club Lunch at 12.30pm on Friday 20th October. Tickets are now on sale, it would be great if you could buy them as soon as possible to help with catering. The New Forest Art Society has two events at the Community Centre this month. On October 18th Bridget Woods, internationally acclaimed artist, teacher and author will demonstrate an autumnal landscape in watercolour. There will also be a mini exhibition of members’ work with the theme of autumn. Visitors are always welcome (entry £4). Lyndhurst Community Centre 7.30-9.30pm. www.newforestartsociety.weebly.com. On October 21st and 22nd there will be an Autumn Art Sale to be held from 10am to 4 pm. Tables and displays will be manned by the artists so there will be an opportunity to discuss the works for sale: crafts, paintings (framed and unframed) and greeting cards (including Christmas cards).
We have lots of fairs and events for you this month so do come along and maybe even buy some Christmas presents?! The Foresta Artisan Fair has works of art, fused glass, textiles, books, photography, wood craft, pottery, jewellery, preserves, dog collars, leads and treats amongst other items. Paraphernalia (antique and vintage goods), Lady Cynthia’s Flea Market and a Teddy Bear Fair will also be taking place, or you might like to buy some lovely new knitwear from WoolOvers
If you would like us to mention your up-and-coming event on our community pages, don’t forget to let us know.
